Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction ServicesThe Mental Health & Recovery Board of Portage County works with Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services (OMHAS) to improve quality of life for persons with mental illness.
In Ohio,53 local boards have been given the statutory responsibility for seeing that services and facilities are available to help their residents with mental illness or alcohol/drug addictions.
OMHAS allocates funding and coordinates the system of public mental health and addiction treatment services in the Ohio, sets standards for care, carries out the directives of legislation and operates state behavioral health care facilities.
Approximately 11% of the Mental Health Recovery Board of Portage County’s funding for services comes from OMHAS. With these funds, the Board has more resources to provide mental health and substance abuse treatment services for children, teens and adults with the most serious mental illnesses and addictions.
