Dine & Donate at The Pufferbelly Restaurant
for NAMI Portage County

Kevin Long, right, hosted a Dine & Donate for NAMI Portage County, the local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, at Kent's Pufferbelly Restaurant.  The restaurant donated a portion of the night's proceeds to the organization. The funds will help NAMI, Coleman Professional Services and the Mental Health & Recovery Board provide a Holiday Party for children, teens and adults with mental illness. Thanks to the Pufferbelly and its great staff!

Portage County turns out strong for the October NAMIWalks!

NAMI members who walked at the 2010 NAMIWalks event at Munnroe Falls Metro Park

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Members of NAMI Portage County, a chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, participated in the annual NAMIWalks event at Munroe Falls Metro Park in October. With the support of other volunteer walkers, the group raised about $4,000 for the chapter which will be used for education, advocacy and support of families who have a member who has mental illness and also for individuals with mental illnesses. Walkers included first row, left to right: Andrew Brown of Kent, Garrett Byerly of Kent, Stephanie Saltis of Kent, Trevor Bouchonville of Kent, Linda Carmen Bouchonville of Kent, Sam Sandu of Ravenna, Rick Halloran of Kent; second row: Karen Cox of Atwater Township, Logan Cox of Atwater Township, Anna Rosenfeldt of Mantua, Pattie Smith of Ravenna, Alan Smith of Ravenna; row three: Phil Cox of Atwater Township; Hal Farrier of the Mental Health & Recovery Board, Michael Rosenfeldt of Mantua  and Warner Rosenfeldt also of Mantua.  Linda Carmen Bouchonville headed Nicole’s Dream for her daughter who completed suicide. Alberta Caetta of Ravenna and Debbie Caetta of Stow also walked for NAMI Portage County. Other teams included a group from Coleman Professional Services and “TeamHOPE” from Aurora. The fundraiser was also supported by the Mental Health & Recovery Board of Portage County.  NAMI Portage County meets at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays at the Mental Health & Recovery Board office, 155 E. Main St., Kent. The meetings are open to persons with mental illness, families who have a member with mental illness and advocates.

A team from Coleman Professional Services in Portage County has participated in the event for the past three years. Kim Kost, Coleman’s director of case management in Portage County, has been the organizer. Coleman volunteers included, left to right, first row: Harvey Takano and Emily Fauser; second row: Norman Cerny, Ann Kaylor, Camille Fauser and Becky Dempster; third row: Andy Lowther, Heather Waltz, Susan Lowther, Ann Malone and Jen Waugh. 

 

TeamHOPE from Aurora participated in the 2010 NAMIWalks event.
