Chief Roy Mosley Joins Board

In 2023, Chief Roy Mosley was sworn in as a new member of the Mental Health & Recovery Board of Portage County, appointed by the Portage County Commissioners.

Chief Mosley has 30 years of law enforcement experience in Portage County. He served with the Streetsboro Police Department from 1995-2015, with the last four years as Chief of Police and is currently Chief of Police with the Brimfield Police Department since 2015.

“The catalyst for serving on the Mental Health & Recovery Board was my initial exposure to the Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) Program for law enforcement here in Portage County,” Mosley explained. “Having seen firsthand the valuable role of the various service providers here in our county and the critical services they provide, the opportunity to serve on the MHRB just made sense.”

"Chief Mosley has been a strong advocate for CIT in Portage County and for people with mental health issues. He also brings a professional knowledge of law and government. We welcome him to the Board of Directors," stated John Garrity, PhD, executive director of the Mental Health & Recovery Board of Portage County.

Chief Mosley resides in Brimfield Township with his wife and two children.

The volunteer Board of Directors has the legal responsibility and authority for the planning, funding and monitoring of community mental health and alcohol and other addiction treatment services in Portage County delivered through its network of provider agencies. Under Ohio law, the Mental Health & Recovery Board of Portage County is one of 50 Boards coordinating the public behavioral health system in Ohio.
